A new sermon series
BEGINS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

It’s a beautiful thing to talk about faith. It’s comforting to contemplate the amazing grace of God that enables our salvation through simple faith in the gift of His Son.  But to realize our fullest joy in “the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him” – to actually turn our simple faith into fuel for a Spirit-filled life that culminates in sharing God’s glory – requires more than any armchair agreement about the theology of Jesus. It requires living out of His wisdom.  Such is the prosperity Gospel James teaches.  Over the coming months we’ll be digging into the book of James to uncover the great wealth contained in this brief letter for Christians called to live in hard places and confusing times. Let’s pray we do more than merely listen to this inspired, and often challenging, Word of truth!
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.  James 1:12

Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.  James 1:16-18

Our worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. We are located at 131 West F Street in Oakdale (on the corner of Church and F Street, next to Wells Fargo).
